For many talented writers, the costs associated with a residency, particularly travel expenses, present a significant barrier. Our scholarship program aims to eliminate these obstacles, allowing writers the opportunity to focus on their craft and create stories that inspire and captivate readers.
Scholarship recipients also give back to the community, sharing their talent and passion through activities such as teaching a class at a local school, hosting a reading, or leading a workshop for other writers. This ripple effect enriches both the literary and local communities.

Our residency rate is highly subsidized at $95.00/night which includes a prepared dinner during the week and a stocked kitchen for breakfast and lunch meals. A weeks residency would be $695.00 which includes the cleaning fee. Any amount received is placed in our WCDH scholarship fund and writers can apply for the funds. They can receive from 25% – 75% assistance for their residency, depending on their need.
